Living organisms affect the regions they live in. The interaction between the biosphere and other systems of the Earth cause continuous changes on the Earth’s surface and living organisms.
Connection to Big Idea about energy: Energy is exchanged between the biosphere and the geosphere in many ways, such as the use of the internal energy of the Earth by bacteria, and the accumulation of energy in biogenic fuels within the Earth’s crust.
Connection to Big Idea about particles: Living organisms make use of Earth’s chemical components. Some are more important, such as carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen.
Connection to Big Idea about cells: Living organisms and the processes occurring in their cells can affect the characteristics of the regi0on they live in.
