People have a variety of attributes that depend on the environment in which they live and grow and the genes they inherited from their ancestors. There are traits that prevail in specific environments, such as skin color, which are an evolutionary advantage of the populations in the particular environment, and features common to all that show the common ancestor from which they evolved.
Connection to Big Idea about the cell: Humans are made up of cells that form organs and organ systems. Although all of them have the same genetic material, there are morphological differences due to the different expression of their genes.
Connection to Big Idea about Earth: Humans are affected by the different environmental conditions that exist on earth and express different morphological traits in order to adapt to these conditions. Changes in biodiversity can affect humans as well as their food and energy resources.

About
PLATON is a two-year European project launched on September 2016. It aspires to provide teachers and school communities with a coherent teachers’ training framework which will update their current teaching practices. More particularly, PLATON aims to offer an open and innovative training framework to teachers of primary and secondary education which will focus on:
- Promoting student-centred teaching approaches;
- Promoting a holistic interdisciplinary approach;
- Support the use of online educational tools;
- Support the meaningful collaboration between teachers of the same school.
